Day nine.
My friend Pia came back to Bangkok today! She had been staying in her native Finland/Sweden for a couple of months and I really missed her! So, Juliette and I organised to meet up in the morning and go pick her up from the airport. For breakfast, I ate yesterday’s leftovers: some bread and hummus and other dips. It was delicious and very filling. At 8 am, Juliette arrived at my place and after some catching up, we walked for 10 minutes to Phayathai Station for the Airport Link. The ticket to Suvarnabhumi Airport was ฿45. We waited at Starbucks, hoping they wouldn’t kick us out as we hadn’t ordered any food or drink, but it was fine (and there were plenty of seats available). After about an hour, Pia arrived and after some big hugs, we were on our way to Pia’s place. Since Pia had quite some luggage, we took a taxi. And this was ok with the challenge since Juliette and I were just ‘add-ons’ so there were no extra costs for us.
We did a lot of catching up and unpacking at Pia’s place. We went to the supermarket to get her some food and necessities to resettle and I bought a can of Coca Cola Light and a small bottle of water for ฿20. I was still not very hungry as I had a big breakfast. Later, Pia cooked some pasta with pesto at home and I did have a small bite. I stayed until the late afternoon and then started to head back home. Since there was no bus connection going directly from her place to mine, I had to take two and interchange.
The first bus I took was bus number 8. It is also just ฿8, no matter how far you go. I took it all the way to Victory Monument, which took quite long as there were traffic jams all over. After 40 minutes, I arrived at Victory Monument (this would’ve taken maybe 15 minutes by BTS) and I changed onto bus number 34. The ticket was ฿11 and it got me home in about 20 minutes from Victory Monument. Total travel time: 1 hour.
At home, I still had a salad that was left over from yesterday’s dinner, so I had that for dinner. I hope it’s enough – don’t have much more left to spend for today!
