And I’m back… at ECPAT!

It has been a while since I last wrote… In the meantime, after almost ten months of rest and recuperation, focusing on the things I love (dog training, photography, long walks in nature with my dog Dingo), I am now much happier and healthier than I was when I left the UN. I was lucky enough to be able to take a break and live off my savings. In the meantime, I became a certified dog trainer and I set up my first small business in photography (W Photography and De Dierenfotograaf)! I also learned that money is not important. It’s necessary to pay the bills, but it doesn’t help with anything. I was richest while working for the UN, but most unhappy. And it seems that my times spent broke (for example as an intern at ECPAT and the past few months when money ran out but I was still able to do what I love) have been some of the best.
A few weeks ago, I got a phone call from ECPAT in the Netherlands. Interning with ECPAT International in Bangkok back in 2011 was a lovely experience and I think it was about the time when I was writing most of my blog posts. And now, they told me they had a vacancy and whether I would be interested. Well, of course! I had my first day at work today and I am now a project officer on child rights and (sexual) exploitation. It’s been a good first day and it’s great to be back in a small, sincere and great child protection NGO. I will probably be writing a bit more again from now on. I’m so happy that perhaps I’ll even record cover song videos again – or maybe not… 🙂
