Nordic challenges #4

Taxes: Norway applies taxes on absolutely everything. Besides the regular income and sales taxes, there is the added tax (plus administration fee) when you buy something from outside of Norway.

Ordering something online worth 300 NOK and having to pay 350 NOK in additional taxes over the item – insane. Or, when we adopted our dog from abroad, they requested the price of the dog in order to charge 25% tax over that (“luckily”, we didn’t buy our dog).

If only Norway offered the same type and diversity of products, there wouldn’t be a need to buy everything from abroad…
I guess taxes are the flip side of what allows me to go to flight school with government student loans.
